MAPPING THE INDEFINITE

This series of acrylic resin poured paintings navigates the interstice between representation and abstraction, crafting a visual lexicon that transcends conventional artistic dichotomies. The representational elements, manifested in cloud-like forms, are not mere imitations of the natural world but rather a poetic reimagining, blending the ephemeral with the eternal. Simultaneously, the inherent fluidity and volatility of the acrylic medium and resin are not merely tools for depiction but become subjects themselves, engaging in a dialogue about the ontology of paint and its transformative potential. This duality is further accentuated by the nuanced treatment of spatial perception; the work offers an illusion of depth and volume, yet this is juxtaposed against an awareness of the intrinsic flatness of the surface, thereby creating a complex interplay of dimensions. The decentralization of form within these compositions disrupts traditional focal hierarchies, encouraging a kind of democratization of the visual field that challenges the observer to navigate the surface in a manner that defies linear interpretation. Lastly, the oscillation between the either/or and both/and conceptual frameworks in these works invites a contemplative engagement, urging the observer to reconcile with the multifaceted nature of reality as perceived through the lens of such expressions. This series, therefore, is not just a collection of painted surfaces but a philosophical inquiry into the nature of perception, representation, and the essence of the medium itself.
